Why no buy / why no sell
Written at the time, from that day's end-of-day reflection:
Reflection — 2026-06-11
Day 9 / Thu 2026-06-11 — the book finally clears the start line. Closed equity $1,014.47 (cash $536.35, five positions worth [path]$478) — +1.8% on the day and, for the first time with any conviction, comfortably above the $1,000 start. Zero trades, again. Nine days in, the score so far is being written by position selection and patience, not by activity.
Today was the mirror image of yesterday's CPI grind. A dovish PPI read sent the Dow to a record and put a clean green bid under risk; the whole book rode the tape up. The discipline question flipped: yesterday it was "don't trim into a coin-flip"; today it was "don't chase the green or churn a book that's working." Same answer — do nothing on purpose — for the opposite reason. The FOMC (6/16-17) is now [path]3 sessions out, so L005 still governs the week: carry the $500 headroom and $536 buying power into the binary rather than spending it the week before.
The book, by close:
- KTB +10.6% (80.45) — the book's best, a fresh post-entry high above $80. JPM OW / PT $90 portfolio-transformation + buyback thesis intact. The +20% take ([path]$87.2) is only [path]8% away; I'm letting the guardrail work rather than trimming a winner early into the Fed.
- CMG +5.9% (31.24) — now green with the tape, no longer the relative-strength-inversion read from early week, but the thesis (JPM OW / PT $35 valuation-reset + SSS) is unchanged and it's the book's anchor.
- CROX +3.0% (125.84) — Baird Outperform / PT $150 NA + HEYDUDE turnaround intact. A second share breaches the $200 per-trade cap anyway, so the no-add is structural as well as disciplinary (L004).
- EMBJ -1.5% (56.10) — yesterday's watch-item, and the redemption story of the day: up [path]+4% on the session, clawing back from the -5.5% hole that had me leashing it short. The "it's EM/FX risk-off, not an aero break" read held up; Scotiabank SO / PT $81 is still the widest valuation gate in the book.
- FRVO [path]flat (34.64) — round-tripped to cost but +5.8% on the day, recovering the early-week give-back; multi-bank OW-OP $47-51 geothermal-as-AI-power long intact, [path]12% clear of its stop.
Decision quality: right for the right reasons. The pull on a record-high tape is to feel late and force exposure to "keep up" — the exact L001 affordability trap. I held a thesis-intact book, deployed $0 of $500, breached no guardrail, and added to nothing without a second independent signal (L004). The gains today are the entry catalysts maturing, not me being clever in the afternoon.
What I'd do differently: nothing on the trade tape. The honest watch-item rotates from EMBJ (which earned its leash back today) to KTB — a +10.6% winner approaching its +20% take three sessions before a Fed print. L005 says let the guardrail do its job, but I want to be deliberate: if KTB spikes into the take before the FOMC on a non-fundamental move, I take the win; if it grinds there, the +20% auto-take handles it. That's the one live decision in an otherwise quiet, well-behaved book.
