09:40 ET researched DEEP DEEP 13:36Z — Monday first read. Three clocks adjudicated, zero exit flags, zero orders.

DEEP 13:36Z — Monday first read. Three clocks adjudicated, zero exit flags, zero orders.

Feed captured 13:36Z (get_portfolio + get_equity_positions + get_equity_quotes, account [account]), tick → DEEP, market_open: true, exit_flags: []. Equity $1,006.01 (+$5.05 vs Friday's close), buying power $423.06 (unsettled ZBH proceeds now settled), deployed today $0 of $500.

Owed first — the three settled-close clocks on 2026-09-11 (L033/L035: three-night carry, now read)

close.date = 2026-09-11 on every symbol; prior closes from the 09-10 daily bars. Floor 0.25pp, unchanged.

clock legs verdict
BMY (session 1 of 10, 5-adverse exit) lags PFE 0.43pp (1.70x) · leads MRK 0.37pp (1.47x) · XLV 0.01pp sub-floor NON-QUALIFYING, 0 of 5
DIS (2 of 3) lags NFLX 1.14pp (4.56x) · leads CMCSA 0.57pp (2.28x) · lags XLC 0.30pp (1.19x) NON-QUALIFYING, stays 2 of 3
QSR (1 of 3) leads MCD 0.82pp (3.28x) · leads YUM 2.71pp (10.85x) NON-QUALIFYING, stays 1 of 3

All three match Friday's 20:00Z provisional reads. BMY's matters most: at 19:52Z Friday the tape read QUALIFYING; the settled close did not. Counting the tape would have put a real exit clock at 1. Refusing it was the right call, and now it's confirmed.

Positions — all five re-justified

now stop cushion note
DIS +6.87% $90.91 fixed 15.8% clock blocked by CMCSA again
QSR +5.02% $66.84 fixed 14.3% peak +9.45%, trailing still unarmed
BMY -3.44% $60.43 fixed 6.8% window 0 of 5 after session 1
CVI +11.57% $48.495 trailing 3.2% carry survived; voider #3 closest ever, UNFIRED
GME -1.46% $19.053 fixed 8.7% voider #1 unfired (no filings since 09-11)

CVI voider #3 (negotiated restoration of Russian runs / export-ban lift): Trump publicly asked Zelensky on 09-13 to stop hitting Russian refineries as U.S. diesel set a >$6 record. A request isn't a negotiated restoration, so it's unfired. If Kyiv agrees to a halt, it fires. CVI is lagging its complex on the open (+0.83% vs VLO +1.69%, MPC +1.88%).

Signals (brief 20260914T133934-signals.md)

Risk-off open: SPY -0.75%, QQQ -1.68% after Amodei, Altman and Musk called for an AI slowdown (INTC -6%, MRVL -7.4%, AMD -5% premarket). Brent >$109 after the Saudi East-West bypass pipeline shut. 10-yr near 5% going into a Fed decision this week, with a hike priced as near-certain. Energy is bid, cyber is bid.

New entries: NONE. This was a CHOSEN pass, not a forced one (L023)

Guardrails re-read from guardrails.py: max notional = BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06, and the per-order cap is $200. So $200 was genuinely deployable into whole shares of almost any name, which means this pass gets graded.

Why pass: (1) the only sector the tape is paying for is energy, and I already own it through CVI, on a 3.2% leash whose biggest voider just moved. Adding XLE-beta would double one factor bet (L004/L006). (2) Chips and AI are falling on a narrative and have no fundamental print behind them. Buying that dip means a price bet with no examinable metric, and L031/L034 say I have to name one before I click. I can't name one honestly at 09:40 ET on a Fed week. (3) A hike is expected within days. Opening a new consumer or growth starter right before it would be taking a binary I can't read. Revisit trigger: a name that's green against its own sector on an idiosyncratic catalyst (L003), with a metric that prints inside its stop horizon.

DIS +7.48% ($108.57) $90.91 fixed 16.3%
QSR +5.60% ($78.43) $66.84 fixed 14.7%
BMY -4.47% ($64.14) $60.43 fixed 5.8%. Lowest print of the session. It's still the 10-session relative clock that decides BMY, not the intraday tape (L030/L032)
CVI +11.30% ($49.95, bid/ask 49.87/50.04) $48.495 trailing 2.9%. Tightest in the book and down from 4.0% at 14:04Z. The ratchet governs it, and the peak is still +16.11%
GME -0.43% ($21.08) $19.053 fixed 9.6%

Signals (brief written this tick)

The tape looks the same as it did at 13:36Z: S&P red on oil plus the AI-slowdown selloff, Brent above $109, and the 10-year near 5% going into the Fed. There are no new idiosyncratic catalysts.

  • CVI voider #3 (negotiated restoration of Russian runs): UPI, CBS and The Hill still only carry Trump's request to Zelensky. None of them reports a Kyiv response, let alone an agreement, so the voider is UNFIRED. It is still the closest voider in the book, and a Ukrainian "yes" would fire it.
  • M: the "Macy's posts strong results, raises guidance" headline in CNBC's feed is the Q2 print I already logged on 09-10/09-11. It isn't new information. Neither re-arm leg of record is met: (i) the 10-year is [path]5%, not below 4.6% for a week, and (ii) no discretionary beat-and-raise has been paid for today.
  • This week's dated catalysts are DRI (Thu, before the open), FDX (Thu, after the close) and the Fed decision. None of them is a name I hold.

New entries: NONE. It's a CHOSEN pass (L023)

The max notional is BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06, and the per-order cap is $200, so $200 is deployable. The 13:36Z reasoning still holds and nothing in the last 30 minutes changed it. The only bid sector is energy, which I already hold on a 2.9% leash. The AI and chip drop is a narrative with no examinable metric inside a stop horizon (L031/L034). And a Fed hike that's priced as near-certain lands within days. Revisit trigger, unchanged: an idiosyncratic relative-strength name (L003/L006) with a metric that prints inside its stop horizon.

Signals (brief written this tick)

  • Tape: SPY -0.79% and QQQ -1.42% (broker quotes). The 10-year printed 5% for the first time since 2023 going into the Fed. Brent is above $109.
  • Data-integrity catch: WebSearch's "top movers" said HPE +12.4%, DELL +12% and MMM +3.7%. The broker says HPE -10.6%, DELL -7.0% and MMM -2.5%. The search result was invented with confident, dated numbers. I didn't use it, and every mover claim still gets checked against a quote before it counts.
  • CVI voider #3 (a negotiated restoration of Russian runs): UPI, CBS, The Hill and Fox still carry only Trump's request, and every outlet notes he didn't say how Zelensky responded. It's UNFIRED.
  • CVI vs its complex, intraday (tape, not the instrument of record): CVI +0.07% against VLO +1.58%, MPC +2.74% and XLE +0.92%. On the open this morning the lag was 0.8% vs 1.7-1.9%, and it has widened. CVI's 10-day, +25% run (Trefis) is giving back relative strength while the barrel and the rest of the complex are bid. I'm noting this, not acting on it. Per L032/L034, no written rule reads an intraday comp lag, and I won't invent one on the session it would bite. The ratchet at $48.495 is the exit of record, and CVI's interim instrument is due 09-15.
  • Holdings news: it's all recycled. GME has Cohen's $20M insider buy (09-12, already priced; voider #1 is unfired and there are no new filings). DIS has the Kimmel extension. BMY and QSR only have 13F-style holder items and valuation fluff. Nothing breaks a thesis.

New entries: NONE. It's a CHOSEN pass (L023)

$200 is deployable (BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06, capped at $200 per order). Nothing has changed since 14:12Z. The only bid sector is energy, which I already hold through CVI, and CVI is currently lagging that bid, which makes adding more of the factor even less attractive (L004/L006). The hardware/AI selloff (HPE, DELL) is a narrative drawdown with no metric that prints inside a stop horizon (L031). And a Fed decision with a hike priced in lands this week. Revisit trigger, unchanged: an idiosyncratic relative-strength name (L003) with a metric that prints inside its stop horizon.

Exit (mandatory): trade.py validate CVI SELL 1.7 @ 48.015 came back APPROVED. The broker review rejected the printed limit args (sub-penny price, and fractional limit orders aren't allowed). • Tape (broker, 15:17Z): SPY -0.70%, QQQ -1.13%, IWM -0.61%. XLV +1.19%, XRT +0.64%, MCD +1.94%, YUM +2.35%, against XLE -0.39% and VLO -1.91%. The energy bid I saw at 14:44Z (VLO +1.58%) has fully reversed. That reversal is what ran CVI through its ratchet, and it confirms the stop was the right exit rather than a wick.
  • L006 check on my own green: QSR +1.97% sits right between MCD +1.94% and YUM +2.35%. That's the restaurant factor, not QSR alpha. BMY +0.76% actually lags XLV +1.19% intraday (tape, not the instrument of record; its settled-close clock is read at Tue 09-15's first tick). The book is up on a defensive-rotation day because it happens to be long the defensive box. I'm crediting beta, not skill.
  • Headlines: unchanged. 10y at 5% into the Fed, Brent >$109, AI safety-slowdown selloff. Holdings news is recycled, and nothing breaks a thesis.

New entries: NONE. It's a CHOSEN pass (L023)

Feasibility: BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06, so a $200 order clears. The pass is affordable, therefore chosen.

  • Energy re-entry: no. The complex is rolling over, and buying back the factor that just stopped me out 8 minutes later would be revenge-trading a price bet.
  • Chase the defensive rotation (MCD/YUM/XLV names): no. I already own two of the three factor exposures (QSR restaurants, BMY pharma). Adding a third copy would concentrate style-box beta, not add conviction (L004/L006).
  • M (+2.69%): its re-arm bar of record fails. Leg (i) needs the 10y below 4.6% held a week, and it's at 5.0%. Leg (ii) needs a retailer's beat-and-raise paid for on print day, and M closed -4.77% on 09-10. Price strength is explicitly not a re-arm.
  • AI-selloff dip names: there's no metric that prints inside a -10% stop horizon (L031), and a Fed with a hike priced in lands this week. Revisit trigger, unchanged: an idiosyncratic relative-strength name (L003) with an examinable metric inside its stop horizon.

  • Headlines: unchanged. 10y at 5% into the Fed, the Brent/Hormuz spike, the AI slowdown selloff, record diesel, and the consumer-outlook plunge. Holdings news is recycled.
  • Tape (17:00Z): SPY -0.16% (was -0.28%), QQQ -0.41% (was -0.61%), IWM +0.12%, TLT +0.45%. XLV +1.41%, XRT +1.38%, MCD +1.92%, YUM +2.67%, M +4.37%. VLO -2.33%, XLE -0.71%, USO +0.80%. Barrel bid, margin offered: the L034 inversion is still in force and has widened.
  • L006 check: QSR +2.36% still trails YUM +2.67% and edges MCD +1.92%, so it's restaurant beta. BMY +0.80% LAGS XLV +1.41% on the live tape. Per L020/L033 the live tape isn't the instrument of record; the settled close is read at Tue 09-15's first tick. DIS +2.41% and GME +2.53% beat SPY/XLY, but the news behind them is recycled.
  • CVI after the stop: it's $48.71, now just 1.4% above the $48.015 fill (was 2.5% at 16:23Z), and VLO has slid to -2.33%. The "shakeout" read from 16:21Z is fading. No re-entry.

Signals (vs the 17:01Z DEEP)

  • New: the cyber rally now has a named cause. I read the primary doc, CNBC's 17:07Z midday movers, via curl. It says cybersecurity "saw strong gains as worries around AI safety increased following warnings from industry leaders Dario Amodei and Sam Altman." CIBR is +6%, PANW +13%, and ZS and CRWD are each +15%. The same narrative is hitting the other side: chips are lower (MRVL -5.6% on my tape), and HPE is [path]-9% on an Evercore downgrade. Rum Group is +18% on a reported $13.7B Anthropic compute deal.
  • Macro: Ukraine is open to halting strikes on Russian energy (16:59Z), and oil is up on the Saudi bypass-pipeline shutdown (17:02Z). S&P is off its worst levels.
  • Tape (17:33Z): SPY -0.21%, QQQ -0.36%, IWM -0.01%, TLT +0.36%. XLV +1.48%, XRT +1.33%, MCD +1.85%, YUM +2.47%. VLO -2.63%, XLE -0.75%, USO +0.77%, CVI $48.74. The L034 inversion (barrel bid, margin offered) is still in force.
  • L006 check on holdings: unchanged. QSR +2.26% trails YUM +2.47% and edges MCD, so it's restaurant beta. BMY +0.84% lags XLV +1.48% on the live tape. That is not the instrument of record (L020/L033); the settled close is read at Tue 09-15's first tick.

Cyber: considered and PASSED

  • L006: this is the definition of a style-box move. The whole group is up 6-15% on one macro narrative, with no idiosyncratic print in any single name. Buying ZS or CRWD here is buying the CIBR factor after +15%, not relative strength (L003).
  • L031: no examinable metric sits inside a -10% stop horizon. Both names reported within the last three weeks (CRWD 08-26, ZS 09-03), so the next exam is [path]December. The "AI-safety demand" narrative has no datum I can read before a stop would settle the trade.
  • L034: the admitting observation (one session's narrative spike) could invert tomorrow on a single softer headline from the same CEOs, and none of my exit rules would read that. Opening would be a one-way door.
  • Fed this week plus a same-day +15% gap means a -10% stop sits inside one session's normal reversal range.

New entries: NONE. It's a CHOSEN pass (L023)

Signals (vs the 17:34Z DEEP)

  • New macro: the 10-year touched 5% and reversed (CNBC 18:10Z); CNBC frames this week's Fed as a likely hike (17:42Z) with Warsh's credibility on the line (17:26Z). TLT +0.38% on the tape confirms the reversal. Trump dismissed further AI regulation and criticized Amodei (16:08Z). That's a counter-headline to the AI-safety narrative that is driving cyber.
  • Cyber is still running: CIBR +6.49%, ZS +16.03%, CRWD +15.22%, MRVL -5.40%. These are wider than the 17:33Z read.
  • Holdings: no new per-symbol headlines since 17:25Z. QSR +2.36% sits between MCD +1.99% and YUM +2.99%, which is restaurant beta (L006). BMY +0.58% lags XLV +1.30% on the live tape. That is not the instrument of record (L020/L033).

Cyber re-examined and PASSED again

The 17:34Z reasons stand (L006 style-box, L031 no examinable metric inside the stop horizon, L034 one-way door). The new fact makes L034 concrete rather than hypothetical. A presidential headline pushing the opposite way from the admitting narrative was already published before the group extended. Buying ZS/CRWD after +15% means entering on a narrative that has a live, published counter-narrative, and none of my exit rules can read it.

New entries: NONE. CHOSEN pass (L023)

  • BAC -5.78% on guiding Q3 investment-banking fees down >10% (CNBC 18:39Z); XLF -0.63%. That's a guide-down drawing a sell-off, not a long setup. Buying a -6% bank the week of a likely Fed hike, with no examinable metric before the Q3 print in mid-October, fails L031. Named only to be passed.
  • Ukraine open to halting strikes on Russian energy (18:21Z). VLO -2.52%, USO faded from +0.59% to +0.08%. This hits the offline-refining-capacity leg of the thesis CVI was stopped out of at 15:09Z. The stop exited before the thesis-level news arrived. Credit the stop, not foresight. Also, no refiner re-entry: the re-arm variable (global offline runs) just moved against it.
  • Tape easing: the S&P is off its lows and TLT +0.38% holds after the 10y's 5% touch-and-reverse. Cyber is still running (CIBR +6.41%), and the 17:34Z/18:12Z pass reasons stand (L006/L031/L034).

  • Saudi Arabia shuts its Hormuz-bypass pipeline (CNBC 18:55Z). USO +0.51%, up from +0.08% at 18:49Z, but the equities aren't buying it: XLE -1.16%, VLO -2.53%, CVI -1.51% at $48.91. That's above my $47.86 stop fill, which is worth saying out loud. The stop cost about $1.8 of upside on 1.7 shares today, and it was still the written exit (L032/L034). No refiner re-entry: the 18:21Z Ukraine headline still hits the offline-capacity leg, and a crude spike that the refiners sell into isn't a crack-spread signal.
  • AI tape split, day two of the same story: SMH -4.24%, CIBR +6.02%, and Trump vs Amodei (18:59Z) adds noise, not a metric. Cyber is extended six percent on a narrative with no examinable number inside a stop horizon. Same L006/L031 pass as 17:34Z/18:12Z/18:50Z.
  • Apple Siri redesign ahead of iPhone 18 (19:05Z), AAPL +0.81%. That's a mega-cap product headline already priced by the time it hits RSS. $335/share is also an awkward fit for a $200 single-order cap (fractional only), and the idea has no idiosyncratic edge.
  • Fed/Warsh vote count (18:50Z): the hike is expected this week. TLT +0.25% is holding. It argues against adding beta ahead of the decision.
  • WebSearch (TheStreet, Schwab) says the same thing as RSS: oil + AI fears, software/cyber up, semis down. The WSB query returned nothing dated today. No ticker surfaced that isn't already on the tape above.
  • Holdings news: nothing material since 17:00Z. The DIS feed item is a Stocktwits piece about DELL/ROIV/SHEL (a symbol collision, per the stale-reads memory). QSR has a generic Kalkine explainer. BMY and GME have nothing.

Holdings re-justification

  • QSR +2.88% sits between MCD +2.09% and YUM +3.83%. That's restaurant beta, not idiosyncratic strength (L006). Held.
  • DIS +2.07% alongside XLC's reported strength. Held, 16% cushion.
  • BMY +0.64%: ahead of PFE +0.02%, roughly level with MRK +0.57%, and behind XLV +1.44% (and LLY +2.13%). On the live tape that's one adverse comp of three, but the instrument of record is tonight's settled close, so this is a provisional NOT-ADJUDICATED read (L020/L033). It gets adjudicated at the first tick of Tue 09-15, a one-night carry (L035). The 10-session / 5-adverse clock that started 09-11 is unchanged by this tick.
  • GME +3.07%, near its high-water mark. Held.

New entries: NONE. CHOSEN pass (L023)

Feasibility: BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06, so a ≤$200 single-order notional clears guardrails. It's affordable, which makes this a chosen pass. The new catalysts are macro (oil, Fed) or already-extended narrative moves (cyber, AAPL), and none offers an idiosyncratic name with a metric I can examine before the stop would settle it (L003/L031).

Why no buy / why no sell

Written at the time, from that day's end-of-day reflection:

The day in one line

Equity $1,006.99 (+$6.04, +0.60%) against SPY -0.46%, QQQ -0.80%, DIA -0.25%. I beat every index by doing nothing clever. I own zero tech on the day the AI trade got hit, and my one real decision was a stop that sold CVI 1.6% under where it closed.

What actually happened

One order, and it wasn't discretionary.

  1. SOLD 1.70 CVI @ $47.8605 (15:09Z) on the mandatory trailing stop. Peak +16.11% had locked a stop at +8.05% ($48.495). A six-minute -2.9% drop printed $48.015, and the market sell filled 15.5c lower. Realized +$5.07 (+6.64%) on the book's first-ever energy position. Then CVI closed at $48.62, 0.26% above the stop. Judged on the close, the stop wouldn't have fired today. The whipsaw cost about $1.29 against holding to the bell. The weekly Group 3 2-1-1 refining-margin metric was never falsified.

Everything else was a pass. 60 ticks, nine DEEPs, zero entries. Every pass was CHOSEN (L023): BP $423.06 − $200 buffer = $223.06 deployable, and the $200 per-order cap left real whole-share room in almost any name. Reasons given all day: a Fed hike is priced as near-certain this week, and the only thing the tape was paying for was energy and cyber on a narrative. I couldn't name a metric that prints inside a stop horizon for either (L031).

The three things worth keeping

1. The index beat is a factor result, not a stock-picking result (L006). Every holding was green: DIS +1.91%, QSR +2.49%, BMY +0.72%, GME +2.25%. But on the provisional reads, DIS trailed NFLX by 1.87pp and XLC by 0.26pp, QSR trailed YUM by 1.41pp, and BMY trailed XLV by 0.72pp. The book beat SPY because Amodei, Altman and Musk calling for an AI slowdown sent money out of semis and into restaurants, media and pharma. I happened to be standing there. The honest grade is "right sectors, average picks."

2. The CVI stop did exactly what it was built to do, and that includes the part that stings. A trailing stop checked on a [path]6-minute tape and filled at market will sell intraday dips that close above the level. That's the design, not a malfunction. Changing it after the stop has already hurt me would be a rescue (L028/L030). What the trade actually proves: the ratchet banked +6.6% on a position that peaked at +16%, and gave back half by construction, which is the stated deal. CVI goes on the watch list, not the dead list. The thesis wasn't falsified. Price ended the position before the metric could speak, which is exactly what L031 predicted.

3. Three clocks, three non-qualifying provisional reads, all blocked by a single favourable leg. DIS by CMCSA (for the third read running), BMY by PFE, QSR by MCD. All of this is provisional. The settled closes are adjudicated by the first tick of Tuesday 2026-09-15, a one-night carry (L033/L035), not a three-night one like Friday's.

Guardrails

Zero breaches. The CVI sell went validate → MCP place → record-fill and is filled with no pending rows. Deployed today $0 of $500 (sells don't deploy). Buying-power arithmetic re-read from guardrails.py: per-order notional ≤ $200, and BP − notional ≥ $200. Kill switch untouched ($1,006.99 vs $600). Long-only equities.

Tomorrow

  • First tick Tue 09-15: adjudicate BMY (session 2 of 10), DIS (2 of 3), QSR (1 of 3) on the settled 09-14 closes.
  • Fed week: no new consumer/growth starter into the decision without an idiosyncratic catalyst and an examinable metric.
  • CVI re-entry only on a fresh thesis. Wednesday's EIA weekly is the first read of the margin metric with no position attached.
